JIS Tests for Microbial Performance of Plastics, Textiles and Durable Products

JSA JIS Methods have been harmonized into other standard organizations such as ISO, but are still referred to for some specifications.  JSA JIS methods were some of the earliest bacterial and fungal test methods developed for the testing of antimicrobial silver treated products.

Most Commonly used methods are:

JIS L 1902 - Laboratory Testing for Antibacterial Activity and Efficacy on Textile Products.
JIS 1902 is can be used for both antibacterial, antifungal testing against various bacteria and fungi on textiles.

JIS Z 2801 - Antimicrobial products -- Test for antimicrobial activity and efficacy.  The JIS Z2801 is used for durable products typically contaminated with bacterial.  It is a common test used for silver treated products such as medical type devices but is not an EPA or FDA registered or approved test method.
