Military Standard Testing  Fungal Resistance (MIL-STD)

The MIL-STD 810G comprises a comprehensive assessment of a product or materials' fitness for use in any given potential environment. 

A subset of this standard MIL-STD 810g 508 requires antifungal properties of the material to resist the growth and potential detriment due to fungi. 

The MIL-STD 810/508 test Method comprises the use of several fungi, and testing in an enclosed, environmentally controlled chamber.

In addition to the MIL STD fungi test, the most common ASTM fungi test methods are ASTM G21, ASTM D3273, ASTM D2020, and ASTM D5590 and JSS 55555 - "Penta-Five" standard for fungal exposure.

Depending on the material being tested, an appropriate ASTM method can be substituted in the development process as a more cost effective means of developing a new product that will ultimately require MIL STD testing.
