MIL-PRF-28800F – Antifungal Test – Electronics

MIL-PRF-28800F sec 4.5.6.1 is an antifungal product test for electrical and electronic equipment against fungal growth.

The MIL-PRF-28800F sec 4.5.6.1 guideline is one part of a much larger specification and tests for fungal growth versus five standard microorganisms.

Standard antimicrobial testing runs for 28 days and results determine the extent of fungal growth, immediate and long-range effects growth may have on the equipment, and the specific material that is supporting fungal growth.

MIL-PRF-28800F testing can provide important information about a product and how it will hold up against fungal contamination and if the fungal growth will inhibit the intended performance of the product.

Controlling fungal growth is critical for many products and materials used in these environments and is often a significant part of the much larger MIL-STD requirement.

Fungal growth not only contaminates a material with unsightly growth but it can also inhibit the performance of the product or material.

When there are extreme conditions and no space for error, it is important that the products and materials used in the military setting perform optimally over their intended use time.

Our lab has expertise in material and formulation development and performance testing as required by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Product Development and Performance testing are key to understanding a product’s ability to perform under different conditions throughout its life span.
