AOAC 966.04 Sporicidal Activity of Disinfectants
The AOAC 966.04 method determines the sporicidal efficacy of disinfectants. The AOAC 966.04 test evaluates water-soluble powders and non-volatile liquid products for sporicidal efficacy. This method is used for the registration of disinfectants and the verification of claims of sporicidal efficacy with the EPA and FDA.
In this method, Peni cylinders and silk sutures are inoculated with Bacillus subtilis and Clostridium sporogenes. These carriers are exposed to the test substance for a predetermined time. The carriers are then incubated and examined for the presence or absence of growth of spores. Based on the customer or regulatory agency requirements, the test substance must kill a predetermined number of test organisms on the carriers to show efficacy as a disinfectant.
Situ Biosciences offers consulting services to assist customers in determining specifications to meet regulatory requirements. GLP or Non-GLP testing can be performed (as requested by customer).
