Situ Biosciences Receives ASTM Textile Test Certification
Certification from Aegis for Antimicrobial Textile Testing
In compliance with the stringent quality control standards and testing protocols,
Situ Biosciences is pleased to announce that we have been certified by Aegis as an independent laboratory for testing of textile products treated with Microbe Shield technology.
As an independent microbial service and testing provider, Situ Biosciences is pleased to have the certification by a recognized industry leader. Microbial testing can be challenging due to the broad range of product types and details involved with the treated articles, their application, use, and performance requirements. The key to gaining this testing certification is our ongoing dedication to providing premier service and technical expertise with ASTM, ISO, AATCC, and JIS methods applicable to both antifungal and antibacterial products.
Textiles and other durable goods treated with antimicrobials are used for many reasons. In consumer goods, a finished textile will have improved hygiene by reducing the number of microorganisms able to contaminate that product in a given timeframe.
While not visually obvious, the reduction in microorganisms will also reduce issues associated with their respiration, such as the cosmetic and mechanical degradation of the material and their associated odors.
Textile microbiology test methods used in determining the performance of a treated antimicrobial product include ASTM E2149, AATCC TM 100, AATCC TM 147, JIS 1902, and ISO 20743, ISO 20645.
The specific antimicrobial test required depends on several factors associated with the product including the textile composition, auxiliaries used, manufacturing process, expected use or durability, and finished product performance.
